5 bedrooms, Great Price $150,000 USD This large 2,900 sq. ft. home hasn't been lived in for several years, but once--30 years ago--it was one of the most desirable houses in Salahua. Salahua is in the hotel zone, and this home, in a nice neighborhood just blocks from downtown Salahua, needs owners who are willing to give it the TLC it needs. Built by Japanese businessmen who were part owners of Manzanillo's still-producing iron mine, they built it to last, being used to earthquakes in their native country. |

FIRST FLOOR |
The open atrium is one of the best features of this 3,000 sq. ft. home. Even after years of being unoccupied, the fountain is ready to spray water, and the plants are growing as if a gardener is in attendance.
The atrium is visible from the outside entryway as well as inside from the living room area. It is open to the sky, and sets the atmosphere for welcoming visitors. Got a green thumb? Imagine what it could look like!
|
The lower level consists of 2 atriums, combined living/dining room, study, kitchen, half bath and laundry room. The living/dining room has a terrace that opens to a large backyard with plenty of room for a pool. The laundry room has a service entrance door to the street aside from the main entrance. |

SECOND FLOOR |
|
On the second floor a large foyer opens to 3 spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom has graceful arching windows, its own private bath and terrace. A large central bath services the other two bedrooms, which have a terrace overlooking the backyard. All doors are handmade of quality hardwood and are in excellent condition. There are airy cathedral ceilings in all bedrooms. |

CONSTRUCTION: Extremely thick foundation, walls brick and concrete, very well enforced with rebar. Has withstood numerous earthquakes from 5.4 to 8.0 and there is not a single crack in any wall. The original Japanese owners, obviously coming from an earthquake-prone country, made sure this house was very well built.
TAXES: $200 USD/year
WELL: In addition to city water and sewer, this home is one of the few in the area to have a well. Perfect if you choose to build a pool in the backyard. To build a well today would cost $20-25,000 USD. An excellent way to save money and enjoy all the water you need.
COMMENTS: This home is in the city of Salagua, one of Manzanillo's municipalities. Salagua has wells, which provide water to the city, and a modern water treatment plant, as well as a sewage treatment plant. Salagua has a Catholic Church, a central "Jardin," or town square, and has an open air market (tianguis) on Sundays. The city of Manzanillo provides trash pick-up street lights and street repairs. This home is on a street that has recently been redone. It is across the street from the "Plaza de Toros," the bull ring, where an occasional rodeo or dance is held. As a small town, Salagua has numerous small restaurants, and a variety of stores. The home has not been lived in for many years, and needs a major cleaning, painting, and some remodeling to bring its looks up to modern standards, but its price per meter squared is below area averages.
